The Human Library

โ€ฆ last week I was published! ๐Ÿ“š

โ€

No, I didnโ€™t publish a book (yet) - I made my debut *AS* a book for the Human Library. The concept behind the Human Library Organization is one that I am thrilled to be a part of.

โ€

โ€œThe Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. The Human Library is a place where real people are on loan to readers. A place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered.โ€

โ€

My first two โ€˜readingsโ€™ were addictive - giving people the space to ask probing questions in a safe environment energised me no end. I proudly sat on the shelf with my fellow books - a Holocaust Survivor, Autism, Trans Person, Cancer Survivor to name a few - and together the readers started the process of โ€˜un-judging a book by its coverโ€™.

โ€

๐Ÿ‘‡๐Ÿฝ Have you experienced the Human Library yourself? I see this as #experiential DEI training! What would your title be? Could your organisation benefit from a session like this? Iโ€™ve always claimed to be an open book - and I've finally been given the opportunity to literally embody that! ๐Ÿ“–

โ€

And a huge thank you to Chris Michel who introduced me to the incredible Katy Jon Went - I truly love how the world (and the internet) connects us ๐ŸŒ.
