...today is the last day to register

...today is the last day to register for the SIETAR Europa conference in Malta (irl or virtual) on Rethinking Interculturalism. I can't wait to soak up all the new insights, finally meet people I've known only virtually, and collectively challenge the status quo.

I am thrilled to be a #speaker at the conference, and I will focus on examining 'How intercultural are we really'? I'll be taking a critical look to see how we (myself included), as trainers, researchers and academics, are willing to self-reflect on the very biases we teach.

As with many fields of study, intercultural communication has been widely Western/Eurocentric, in both perspective and availability of academic studies. This is simply not good enough in 2022, and I look forward to highlighting some of the amazing work which is being done around the globe, and discussing why this hasn't made it to the 'mainstream' yet. The intention is never to detract from the 'founding fathers' of the field, but to ensure we have a diversity of thought.
