Even as we empathize with the pain of the people of Ukraine, we have witnessed bias and racism in the treatment and coverage of the plight of people who look more like us. Is there a difference in whose lives matter? Media coverage and actions on the ground would tend to suggest there is. But what's really behind it? Join us as we unpack the unconscious bias and lack of empathy that affects how we relate to the people we "other".

In this episode, we discuss with sociology graduate and intercultural awareness trainer, Annelie Wambeek, why labels are a human necessity and how the feeling of belonging can be the key to assessing if you can be successful where you are.
